Pennine Way in Pictures, Part 4

Saturday, and folks were out in force on Pen y Ghent.
 

I must have passed about 50 people.
 

Glad I brought my crampons.  The southern descent was steep and icy.
 

Heading up again...



...to the cairns atop Fountains Fell.
 

And down again...
 

...to Malham Tarn.
 

At this point I decided to skip Malham Cove, because I had seen it before on my Yorkshire Dales adventure.
 

Instead I took a detour down the Gordale Scar.

 

The two lads in the previous photo were a bit dubious as to how I was going to get down the waterfall with my pack.

 

 

My feet were aching....I was in no mood to backtrack.



Surely my can do attitude would see me down right?

Well...those lads were right.  There was no way I was climbing down this with my pack on, so I ended up winging it down into the waters along with my hiking poles.

Heading into Malham where I stayed at River House B&B.
 

The next day saw me following the River Aire for a while, then crossing it at the town of Gargrave, along with the Leeds and Liverpool Canal.
